Why I went vegan and started spendning more time cooking

First off I saw just one clip from an undercover video done by Mercy For Animals and then I needed to find out more. The more I researched into it and made myself watch the videos and the terror and painful procedures inflicted upon animals I began to see how they are not so different from us in their ability to feel all five senses and emotions, they want to live. I also began studying the articles and videos about how animal agriculture is the top contributor of green house gas and global warming. I could not stop there so I continued to study even more about the health aspect of eating a healthy vegan diet called Whole Foods Plant Based. The video Forks Over Knives really helped me to see how changing my eating habits could not only benefit the animals, our environment, but my own health as well!  I did not wait or go through any transition stage like being vegetarian first, I went vegan overnight. No it was not hard, it was quite easy. I began to become very involved in the study of vegan cooking immediately and even got adventurous going more towards the gourmet aspects of it. Then within a short amount of time the health benefits began....

The two lumps I had had in my left breast for the last eight years disappeared within a couple of weeks of quitting all dairy, and my lifelong persistence of heart problems lessened by 75-85%. The inflammation around my joints disappeared. It was enough for me to see how the top doctors are reversing heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and ms with a plants based healthy vegan diet to know this is the right choice.

Though veganism is not about us, veganism is an ethical choice you make to do your best to harm no animals which involves the whole lifestyle from the foods you eat, the clothes you wear, the shampoos and soaps you use, the household cleansers. None of these things should nor need to come from animals or be tested on animals.

I respect all forms of anything that will help the animals and our planet even if that is not a persons original intention. If someone goes on a whole foods plant based (WFPB) diet for health reasons then they are doing it for their health. Maybe to cure one of the above mentioned diseases. They may not be vegan for ethical reasons but even just eating a WFPB diet still helps the animals and the environment. If a person goes on a WFPB diet for the environment, they are still helping the animals. I hold nothing against them for not doing it from an ethical stance.

So back to the food part. I do love food like most people and it sparked my creativity when I started experimenting with recipes to create some of my favorite meals, but even better, without any unwanted grease or fats or tortured animals who didn't want to die. My favorite meals I liked are varied from different cultures. I can't say there is one I like or prefer more than another as I think they all have something to gain from when in contact with our taste buds. So slowly I am going to gather the respices and here is where I plan to keep them. Happy cooking to everyone!
